Smooth Scroll,
on and off
Feel the difference between your browser's normal, notchy scrolling and Nori's Smooth Scroll. Use the switch above, or press Spacebar any time while you scroll down this page.
Normal scrolling, then Smooth Scroll
A mouse wheel moves the page in steps. Here's what each kind of scrolling does with them:
Steps and stops
Each notch of a mouse wheel jumps the page about 100px. It stutters on the way and stops dead.
- ✕ Hard stops with zero deceleration decay curve.
- ✕ Visible screen-tearing on fine lines and dense grids.
- ✕ Parallax backgrounds jump abruptly per notch.
One smooth glide
Smooth Scroll turns those steps into one glide that eases to a stop, like a page with a little weight to it. It uses Lenis, bundled with Nori.
- ✓ Buttery smooth exponential decay curve (
duration: 0.8s). - ✓ Matches display refresh rates (60Hz, 120Hz ProMotion, 144Hz).
- ✓ Parallax effects glide with natural depth and zero jitter.
Layers that move at different speeds
Scroll through these layers with Smooth Scroll on and off. Without it the cards skip; with it they glide past each other.
Drifts softly behind content to create architectural depth.
With Lenis active, card translation tracks smoothly with zero stepping.
Fast-moving layers expose native mouse wheel jitter immediately.
Watch the ball as you scroll. With Smooth Scroll on it rolls and slows down gradually. With it off, it jerks and stops with every notch of the wheel.
Fast scrolling past stripes
Stripes make stutter easy to see. Scroll quickly through these rows with Smooth Scroll on, then off:
Fast enough to feel direct
Smooth Scroll makes scrolling feel connected to your hand without getting in the way.
Long enough to hide the notches, short enough that the page still answers right away. Pages made from Nori's templates use Snappy (0.5s).
One notch still moves the page as far as it normally would. Nothing scrolls on its own.
It stays off inside the Elementor editor, and for visitors who ask their device for less motion.

The Smooth Scroll module
In WordPress go to Nori › Modules › Header & scrolling and switch on Smooth Scroll. It works on the whole site; there's nothing to add to your pages. Its settings:
- Glide duration: Snappy (0.5s), Default (0.8s) or Cinema (1.4s), or anything from 0.2s to 2s.
- Wheel speed: how far one notch moves the page, from half to double.
- Smooth touch scrolling too: off by default, so phones keep their own feel.
- Anchor link offset: room for a fixed header when a link jumps to a spot on the page.
